The job scope of a manager of a local homegrown family owned SME is both extremely broad and uniquely specialized. It covers with dealing with basic accounting to managing relations from suppliers to regular customers. Brunei Darussalam has a dynamic method of regulating its economy which requires being constantly getting up to date with new regulations and laws.
My job required me constantly keeping up to date and understanding relevant current affairs and cascading such to staff at every level below.
A restaurant also requires management of two separate teams of the kitchen and wait staff and dealing with customer appointments outside of normal working hours. The job required other heavily developed skills such as inventory monitoring and management.

The store was a legacy retail store that was ailing on a failing business model. It had not run an operating profit for a 5 years prior to my employment and was operating mainly on overdraft facilities. Within 3 years the company had cleared its overdraft and consistently making profit as a direct result of multiple policies I had implemented.
I had cut costs where necessary, started street level marketing strategies and improved inventory acquisition and selection.
Retail requires anticipating customer wants and inventory acquisition in advance I had to manage all aspects of it.
It also meant dealing with various government departments both in compliance of regulatory requirements and application and fulfilment of tenders.
I was the liaison between the business and all government departments necessary, a few local logistics companies as well as all suppliers for retail goods required by the business.
